Fermented Jalapeno Peppers
A batch of fresh, green jalapeno peppers, paired with carrots and garlic, that are undergoing fermentation.
Here’s what ingredients you will need for your fermented Jalapeno Peppers:
*Make sure you have enough to fit into a one litre jar!
Fermented Jalapeno Steps:
Step one: Wash and cut the vegetables
Step two: Cut the vegetables diagonally and the garlic in thin slices.
Step three: Add the vegetables to the jar, pack them in to make sure that they are close together, and make sure that they aren’t over packed, as this allows the brine to penetrate the vegetables.
Step four: Add the brine, and make sure all the vegetables are covered.
Step five: Leave the jar on the kitchen counter for about 3-7 days. Be sure to check on it regularly.
You can use two options to make your brine…
Option one: Get 2 teaspoons of good quality salt + 2 tablespoons of starter culture (this can also be the juice of your sauerkraut) + enough water to fill the 1 litre jar
Option two: 2 tablespoons of salt + enough water to fill the 1 litre jar
When can you open the jar?
As soon as it starts to bubble, open the jar, but close it again and check on it the next day, you can put it in the fridge and enjoy!!
